Dr. Darren Weiss

Dr. Darren Weiss has called Bastrop Veterinary Hospital home since graduating from Texas A&M University in 2001. Originally from nearby Pflugerville, Texas, he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree cum laude and has spent his career caring for the animals and families of the Bastrop area.

Dr. Weiss enjoys helping pets live longer, healthier lives through preventive care, medical management, and thoughtful treatment decisions. He appreciates the opportunity to care for generations of pets and the trust that comes with being part of their journey from their first visit through their senior years.

As a practice owner, Dr. Weiss is proud to be part of a team that values high-quality medicine while maintaining the welcoming, personal feel that makes Bastrop unique. He enjoys the balance of practicing veterinary medicine in a community where people still know and support one another.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Weiss enjoys spending time outdoors caring for his cattle, hunting, offshore fishing, and traveling. His adventures have taken him to destinations including the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Mexico, and the Florida Keys. At home, he enjoys time with family and Marley, his black Labrador Retriever.
