Dr. Jeff Schroeder (Pronounced Shray-der) is a 1994 graduate of Texas A & M University in College Station. He was born and raised in Elgin, Texas where he married and raised his family with his wife, Lorie. Their two boys are now attending Texas A&M University. Dr. Schroeder started his veterinary career at BVH and co-owns the hospital with his partner, Dr. Darren Weiss. He enjoys general practice, primary care medicine, and production management of cattle and deer. His family enjoys the company of their dogs, Boone, Scout, and Scooter, the Boston terrier. Relaxation includes fishing in Baffin Bay or Port Mansfield for trout and redfish. Lorie is the owner and manager of the Laurel Tree, a gift and home decor shop in Elgin.
Dr. Weiss (Pronounced liked "ice" with a W) graduated from Texas A & M University in 2001. He was born and raised in Manor, Texas then moved to Elgin where he raised his two boys with his wife, Michelle. Dr. Weiss began working for BVH before he even graduated from Texas A&M, and is now co-owner of the hospital with Dr. Schroeder since 2004. He enjoys companion animal medicine with a special interest in surgery and equine reproduction. He loves deep sea fishing and deer hunting. Marley, the black lab, is the family pet.
Dr. Bonnie Kemnitz is a 2014 graduate of Texas A&M University. She was born and raised in the small farming community of Chico,Texas, about an hour northwest of Ft. Worth. She attended Tarleton State University In Stephenville, Texas for her undergraduate degree. She recently got married (You may know her previously as Dr. Cox) to another veterinarian, Dr. Kohl Kemnitz. Lately, her free time is enjoying their new home . Her veterinary interests include small animal surgery, preventative medicine, and working on cattle and goats. She is a die-hard dachshund lover and has two, Sadie and Toby.
Dr. Erin Mosbaugh (Pronounced "Moz-bah") is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate degree at Ohio State University in Columbus. She then went on to attend the Kentucky Horseshoeing School near Lexington, Kentucky prior to entering Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated Cum Laude. Dr. Mosbaugh moved to Texas in 2012 and completed her clinical year at Texas A&M University with a focus on Mixed Animal Medicine. She then completed an internship at Elgin Veterinary Hospital Equine Surgical and Emergency Referral Center. Her primary interests are mixed animal internal medicine, neonatology and theriogenology. Dr. Mosbaugh enjoys the company of her one-eyed dog Diddle and her basset hound mix Brutus. In her free time she enjoys tennis, hiking, playing the fiddle, and taking her dogs to the park.
KRISTEN BOONE, DVM
Dr. Kristen Boone was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, and she now calls Bastrop home. She attended Baylor University for her undergraduate study, where she Majored in Forensic Science with Minors in Biology and Chemistry and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She then attended the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences to receive her Veterinary degree in 2015. Dr. Boone enjoys all aspects of the veterinary field and is getting a great deal of experience with various species, including small animal, large animal, and exotic pets. Reading is a favorite pastime of hers, and she loves to travel - some of her favorite past vacation spots include Alaska, Hawaii, and Italy. Her pets include two dogs: Zoey, the mischievous cavachon (a mix between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon Frise), and Zeus, the mystery mutt.
Dr. Alyzabeth Looney is the newest member of our team, having graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine just this year. At the San Antonio Livestock Show she was one of two scholarship recipients as an outstanding large animal veterinary student. Dr. Looney visited us last year as an extern, and we were thrilled to be able to hire her as our own associate. She also spent time at the Navajo Nation Veterinary Clinic in Arizona and worked on a public health mission in the Honduras. She was born and raised in Denton, Texas just north of Ft. Worth and now lives in Taylor. She loves to travel and go to Aggie football games. Remi is her rambunctious Aussie/Heeler mix. Cattle are her passion, and she is looking forward to meeting our ranch clients as well as petting a few dogs and cats.
